What a surprise,
to look into your eyes,
And see a man I never saw before.

Confused and bemused
at that moment
When you revealed
your feelings for me.

Playing with my food,
Embarrassed
to look up at you.
Afraid to look inside myself;
Sorting through a million thoughts.

What a delight…
an ocean sprayed moonlit night.
Exposing our souls, confessing our lives.

Running scared…
in place, in my mind.
Moving faster than I can feel or understand.

The world had shifted and
You weren’t you anymore and
We weren’t we; and
There I was…
in a new reality.
