The Lie by Martie Hevia

A mirage in the desert
Looking so perfect
Looking so much
Like something I’d need.
But as I got closer
I reached out to touch it
And I realized it was not real.
There was nothing to feel.
I was alone in the desert
Feeling exposed and betrayed
Humiliated and afraid
So, I silently prayed…
God give me the strength
to go or to stay
God show me the way –
I need you today.
So what d’ya say?
With one lie he took it all away
With one lie he brought
These sleep-away days
With one lie he became a stranger
The sign said “Danger… Ahead”
So run, run, run away
Just run, run, run, run away.
Run away.
