We Never Danced by Martie Hevia

Laying in bed.
Dreaming of you.
Praying to God I will get over you.
Hoping the heartache will soon subside.
Wondering if you’re still
lonely on the inside…
Like me.
~
“Did I do something wrong?”
“Was it something I said?”
“Was I not enough?”
All ran through my head.
I’ll miss the passion.
I’ll miss the romance.
And then the thought came:
“We never danced.”
~
No, we never danced or kissed in the rain.
We never fought or cried in pain.
We never shared a sunset on the beach.
You were always out of reach…
From me.
~
I realized then what I’d miss most of all…
Were all the things I would never recall.
How to recall memories never made?
How to allow the rest to simply fade away?
~
When we never danced or kissed in the rain.
We never fought or cried in pain.
We never shared a sunset on the beach.
You were always out of reach…
From me.
~
We never danced.
We never danced.
